About

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at Johns Hopkins University. My research interests include the ways in which ordinary people come together to advocate for change at the local, state, and national levels – in particular, how communities are built on and offline, the challenges and opportunities of doing so in a digital society, and the organizational strategies and structures that support them. I also study how to bring people together across lines of difference to solve public problems. My work was selected to receive the 2025 National Institute of Social Sciences dissertation grant.

Prior to graduate school, I was the digital organizing director for Organizing for Action, President Obama’s community organizing non-profit that sought to support and develop the thousands of volunteers who stepped up to make a difference in their local communities – and the subsequent ones who, inspired, wanted to learn how to do the same. I am a summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Barnard College of Columbia University. I live in Annapolis, Maryland, with my husband, kids, mother, and Great Dane.
